Cats are an extremely important part of the lives of American pet owners, and they are like little elves around us, accompanying us through every happy moment. Humans are creatures with intelligence and emotions, but did you know that cats also have their own psychological world? The purpose of this article is to introduce the psychology of cats, helping you to understand and take care of your precious cats in a deeper way.
First, let’s start with the nature of cats. Cats are carnivores, naturally independent, alert and curious, and are very good at hunting and survival. Therefore, even though we have “invited” cats from the wild into the home, these characteristics are still retained, so it can be said that cats are “semi-wild” family pets.
Next, we will talk about the socialization habits of cats. Although cats are often seen as solitary creatures, they also have a unique way of socializing, such as close physical contact and unique sniffing behavior. When dealing with their own kind, cats need to respect each other’s independence and territoriality, which also means they need a certain amount of freedom and privacy to adapt to their environment.
Furthermore, cats have a rich way of expressing their emotions. They will communicate their feelings through their eyes, facial expressions, body gestures and sounds. For example, spreading the hind legs and relaxing the body indicates that they feel comfortable and satisfied; purring and “massage” behavior may mean that the cat is in a relaxed state. On the other hand, if your cat is showing sharp teeth, wagging its tail, or making muffled purring noises, it could be a sign of warning or defense.
Finally, cats also have the ability to learn and memorize. For the most part, cats are able to learn, memorize and adapt to a variety of living situations on their own, as they are very intelligent animals in their own right. In the home environment, we can educate our cats through enticement and rewards and punishments, encouraging them to learn new skills in a positive atmosphere.
